Can you attack a liberal when they are always hugging a tree, wouldn't you damage the tree as they ran away?

If they are hugging a tree, just take a bunch of old tires and light them on fire nearby. When they stop hugging the tree to call the EPA, whack them with a stuffed spotted Owl. It works better than Garlic.

Maybe from the left? No, its hard to get to the left of a liberal, even if that can be done :)
From the front? Maybe, liberals wont look you in the eye, I am told.
From the back? That is how neocons normally do it.
