They will check. If you went to court and pleaded no contest or guilty, or were found guilty after pleading innocent, then that's a conviction. If you pleaded not guilty and were found not guilty, or the case was dismissed, then it's NOT a conviction.

A conviction means that you were found guilty of a crime, either by a judge, jury or by pleading no contest to the charge. If you were arrested for DUI, you had to go to court. There it was decided if you were innocent or guilty. If you were found guilty you were convicted.
If you were not convicted, don't put it on your application. However, if you have a criminal record, and that question is on the college application, you must answer the question truthfully, the same as all other questions on the application. Good luck.

Generally, you do not have to answer this question unless the conviction in question is a major felony. It would probably NOT be a good idea to add a DUI to a college application.

I would leave it out. But if they asked you about it then you have to admit to it.It also depends on what you plan on going to college for and the type of school you plan on attending.Example if you are going to college for anything related to the law or law enforcement then you should put it down and enclose a VERY CAREFULLY WORDED letter explain the circumstances and what you have done to straighten out things from that incident. This would also apply if you are planning on working in the education industry as a teacher or something like that. Another factor is how old you were when it happened and how recent the conviction is as some schools will not care about something that happened more than a few years ago.

I would advise against it, unless it is specifically asked. A DUI (first offense), while embarrassing, is not the end of the world. Like one bad marriage it can happen to anyone. The problem happens if it occurs again. If they ask if you have been convicted of any crime, answer truthfully. If they do not ask, say nothing. Good luck!
