I choose to do my report for one of my graduate classes on how society views the effects of wealth and status on kids. Both how poor or middle class views wealthy kids, and how the wealthy views poor or middle class kids. Considering I came from a rather wealthy family (my father works in a high position in JP Morgan Chase) I already have friends whom I will ask the later of the two questions to.

But I want to know how "you" view kids coming from immense wealth, not how they are depicted on the media and stereotyping, though you could use that if you want to.

Wealth, or lack of, has nothing to do with how a people present themselves in public. You can be insanely wealthy and a nice, quiet person who spends all day reading. Or, you could be dirt poor, spending all your money on flashy cars and clothes that you are thousands of dollars in debt for.

Money does not make a person. How you are raised and the values that your family raises you with are what makes a person. I went to private schools my entire life and had friends who were given cars at 16, who were still down to earth, kind people.

This depends on how the parents raise them. If they are raised Hilton-style, then yes, spoiled brats, but I think there is a possibility that there are immensely wealthy parents that are still interested in teaching their kids the value of a dollar, and actually teach them how to do some kind of work. Unfortunately, if there are parents like this, you never hear about them.

I think if you can be wealthy and still contribute to society, then great. I don't think spending your 20s partying every night is beneficial to you, your family, or your money. But I also can't say that I wouldn't do the same if I were in that position.

The most amazing quality I've seen in "rich kids" that I've known is their desire to make their own mark, create their own wealth, and have their own success. And they were greatful to have the resources to given them a hand up.

Spoiled petty bourgeois. People should not be able to pass their wealth from one generation to the next.

There is something insane about a working man who works all his life to buy a modest house and a car that actually works, and maybe send his kids to college. Then, you see a 16 year old blond girls with breast implants driving a car daddy bought her.

Such inequality will continue to fester until it boils over in revolution. Then, we will drive the money changers from the temple and bring about true equality in this country.

I have been around lots of kids from wealthy families...and all I have to say is that the majority of them are living in a la la land. Most of them are irresponsible, and are used to being handed privileges.

That depends on how they present themselves around others. Do they show off their parents wealth or try and fit in with others. their attitude towards things and people affect how I judge them.

their parents should teach them the value of hard work and money, and these kids should keep in mind that their parents are the ones who are rich and its still their money unless they die and have it pass on as inheritance
