Due to various time constraints, I need to graduate from my B.S. program one semester earlier, which required a reshuffling of my courses. I convinced the department to allow me to take a molecular biology course, out of sequence. The normal prerequisites are cell biology and the first course of the biochemistry sequence.

I will be taking cell bio concurrently, but biochem will not happen until next fall. Is this doable? I've taken mostly lower to intermediate level biology courses so far and have done well, but I can't help being worried about this one. Could you recommend a way to prepare for this course, considering that I haven't taken biochem?

Biochemistry is not exactly a pre-requisite to Molecular Biology. No doubt there are linkages in between but one is talking more of what happens in a whole while the other is talking more at cellular and molecular level.

Just stay cool and work hard. You may even see that learning at molecular level then at organism level is better. Who knows. Good luck.

You're may be okay, but you know prerequesites are step you must take to be able to move to the next step. You're taking a big leap in doing so. Even you convince the department my advice is take it slow. Start from the beginning so you're better schooled when you're done your courses. You see, How can you link cell bio and mole bio without the link biochem? Take it slow bud what's the rush? Enjoy school it's the best experienced it can happen to anyone. Have fun!!!!!!

Find someone's old textbook, notes, anything to get ahead.
Other people walking into that glass are going to be far more prepared then you. Def. do your homework before even beginning that class, so when you walk in the first day, you'll at least have a bit of a grasp on some of the major topics.
Good luck! Work hard and I'm sure you'll kill.

Probably you'll be fine if you've already cleared through organic chem and genetics.
