I hear dish soap works great. It cuts grease on dishes, why not clothes?

treat the spot with a laundry pretreatment such as Shout or Zout.

wash the jeans in the warmest temperature the label allows using regular detergent and borax. This should remove the spot.

You sure it was butter oil ? Them kinda stains tend to look alot alike.
Best bet is to throw away the jeans to avoid embarassing questions.

lol you should have not got the butter on your jeans to start with lol. let shampoo sit on it and rub it in and then wash in a load of clothes. hey it works!! lol.

do not apply heat. turn the fabric inside out and pressure clean with air or cold water from that direction. you may want to spray wd40 on it. seriously wd 40 will loosen purt near all substances.

try some corn starch dry of corse let set afew minutes then wash as usual, or try perocide

make a paste of oxy-clean and water, wet but not runny...brush onto spot, let rest/damp, then wash as usual. this great for t-shirts!
