89-91 RX7 TT ~ $4000. maybe that fast with mods

One of the best deals on an inexpensive and fast car is the Camaro Z28 with the LT-1 or LS-1 motor. Mid to late 90's can be had for $4000. Lots of horsepower, tons of torque and parts are easy to find.

car and driver did an issue on that topic about 2 or 3 months ago. it had all of these nice sedans. the mazdas are nice.
if you really want a cheap thrill, and are willing to fork up 50 grand, then go to hpa motorsports. they will tune your volkswagen and make it go crazy fast. it can produce over 500 horsepower if you get the twin turbo package.

the best part is, the 50 grand price tag includes the car!

03 04 mustang cobra is fair in price and with simple mods can be wicked fast. want cheaper? by 90s model mustang or camaro preferbly camaro put strong motor and trans in it aprox a 355 gear. around 400 horses will get you there quick. for safety make sure tires are rated for the speed. driveshaft should be balanced for that speed use a driveshaft loop just in case dont buy none of that forgien crap

2002 Pontiac Trans Am, 2003 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 kind new, they do no longer lead them to as quickly as they used to. Your best bet is a used Corvette, although the term 'affordable' is relative. You will NOT buy a 160 mph car for less than 20 large.
