There are different answers depending on what you want to call the top of a building.
Taipei 101 is 508 meters in height measured from base to the top of the antenna.
The four ways of measuring what is tallest are below
1) Height to the structural or architectural top
2) Height to the highest occupied floor
3) Height to the top of the roof
4) Height to the top of antenna
Now Taipei 101 would win on both 4(its 508 meter height) and 1(which would make it around 450 meters I think) but if you go by 2 I think the Sears Tower at 442 meters might win.

At the moment it is Taipei 101. However a even taller one is under construction in Shanghai.

If you're talking "free standing structure", its the CN tower. The CN tower is bigger than the taipei 101.... however, it is in a different category...
