There is a great book called "What to Expect The First Year" that will help you a lot. It give month by month examples of what your child will be doing each month for the first year.

If i am right......babies at 1 month old can only see 5" in front of their face...its like 5"-8".
at 2 months they can see up to 10 feet, but after 5' it will be blurry to them.

every baby is different and they all see at birth but not coloured images they see shadows to start with and gradually develop full sight. Your Baby may stare at you from the start as she can hear your voice and follow your shadow.

Oh, I remember that my youngest began looking at me "secretly" like at about 4 and half months, and then I would turn to look at her, and she would grin REAL big, like a little jack-o-lantern!
These moments will always stay with me. I hope I remember them when I am 90.

Very soon, give her a little time and she will start smiling and trying in her baby ways to talk to you.

they can see 12 inches from your face at that age so anything farther is a blur to them
