ah ha, assuming you need to clean before someone arrives to check, if so you've struck gold here as this is my specialised subject:
1st
and foremost turn off your p.c, if you dont you will be tempted to keep checking answers for more tips.
2nd
grab a roll of binbags, throw all clothes, towels and fabric items into one bag. take another and fill with anything paper, a third bag for misc and a forth bag for..............guess what........... rubbish!
3rd
run the vacum over the floor quickly, spot clean with damp cloth
4th
hide the bags somewhere inconspicuous
5th
spray something scented to suggest cleaning fluids.
n.b. if its a kitchen quick fix your after its slightly more difficult but i find that the oven is a good temp hiding place.
Good luck im with ya all the way girl!

Get a large garbage bag, several boxes and a couple of paper towels.
Start in one corner of the room. Everything that can be thrown away should go into the trash. Anything that can be stored in the closet or in another palce, put in the boxes. Hang up the clothes. Get one corner's surfaces free of clutter and move on to the next corner and repeat the process. If you fill up the trash bag or box, remove it from the room immediately and/or put it where it goes. Go from one corner to the next until the entire room is clutter and clothes free. Empty the wastebin, run the paper towels over dirty surfaces, run the vacuum cleaner, throw out the garbage, make the bed (if there's one in the room) and close the closet doors.

With three bags or boxes in hand - one trash - one donate - and one keep. Throw the trash bag out put the donate bag in your car and put the "keep" bag in the closet until you can put the items in the correct place.
Set the timer for 30 mins and then you will get an idea of how much you accomplished in the first 30 mins and can adjust your work speed accordingly.
AND Don't get distracted by the TV or by reading mail or magazines you find!!

Do the big stuff first. Pick up all the clutter from the bed, floor and top of the furniture. Put all of the mess in the closet or under the bed. Make the bed. Put soiled clothes in the hamper.

Grab a box or laundry basket and start picking things up and throwing them in. (Sort later) Grab a duster and go over every surface. Run a vacuum. Put the basket out of sight until later.

Just break the window and then call your insurance agent and tell them, "someone broke in and ransacked the room" Then they will send 'merry-maid' to clean it up?
Thats the best I could come up with.

You throw as much away as possible. Take what you need to sort later to a closet or the garage and vacum, dust and spray---
