Would you risk your butt to go into an inferno to try and save someone you didn't know? They even save kitties and dogs. Also, the most underpaid and overlooked working people.

Well, because they occasionally die on the job and totally don't have to do it, I would say that they are more heroic than anything else. Have you had some bad experience with firefighters to make you think there's something more to it?
