It actually derived from misspelling the word blood. Bloods refer to Crips as Crabs.

In response to another user above.. 1. It's not Crypts, it's 'Crips'. 2. Neither one is primarily 'East' or 'West' side. Depending on where the neighborhood or part of the city is geographically, either can can be East or West. In Los Angeles, the Harbor Freeway is the dividing line for the South Central area. Bloods and Crips on the westside of the highway claim 'Westside' and vice-versa. 3. MANY Crips sets don't get along with each other. The biggest gang wars have been Crips vs. Crips, not Crips vs. Bloods. 4. Bloods may be more united, but some of don't get along with each other, as well. 5. Real Crip and Blood sets (those with connections to California) are not affiliated with Chicago gangs (Folks, People). You can spot wannabe and fake Crips/Bloods by their use of numbers (5 or 6) and use of 'knowledge' (Crip or Blood Book of Knowledge). Only misinformed and fake Crips and Bloods in the South, Midwest, and East Coast use numbers, codes, and 'knowledge'. Los Angeles area gangs don't recognize these groups.

well here's a thought go to a high school...n look for guys n blue n orange typically they're crips...TYPICALLY not always n ask him y do Crips call Bloods slobs?? now b careful cuz if ur not nice he might get mad n knock da crap outta u =) but who knows cuz i sho dont =)
