Don't compare the diamond to a dog or to a human as bestfriend. I want to know what symbolizes the diamond as a woman's bestfriend.

Because it last forever. Not all men stay around but the diamond will outlive the man. But then again if your love is true it will live until the end of time as will the diamond.

I think it's a gimmick to make women seem materialistic and shallow. "Oh pretty jewelry! Tee-hee" You don't see any signs saying "Science is a girls' best friend" nope, just shiny things here in the estrogen ocean.
It also reflects a lack of concern for human rights, because diamonds are often mined under harsh dangerous conditions by the poor people of whatever nation the diamond are coming from.

Well, I think it's supposed to be because diamonds are supposedly "rare" thus, making the woman wearing the diamond feel special enough to deserve a rare jewel. However, it is a fact that if all of the jewelers in the world would release the diamonds, there would be so many they'd be worthless.

I think that it's because so many people say that diamonds are beautiful. And most women think that since a diamond is so beautiful then they feel they need one. To them that is like a thing that makes them feel beautiful and unique in there own way.

The diamond is expensive, due is a gem have a long life "use" and it's the most fine jewelery.
Also the diamond hurts your boyfriend economy, for this whim.

Because, Diamonds are elegant, fine, and really distinguish a woman. Having a huge diamond on your finger totally seperates you from the girl with the i-have-to-squint-to-see-it one next to you. And come on, they glitter like crazy, and that is enough to be any girls best friend!

i never had a diamond best friend, or any gem for that matter, i don't befriend them, i use them, wear them, and they make me feel good sometimes, but not as a friend. a friend for me is a person, or a dog - someone who feels and cares for you and vice-versa.
