as long as you got the 5th generation iPod video.

first you gotta get a dvd to iPod converter, I recommend you try or buy the intervideo iVideoToGo (( http://www.intervideo.com/ivideotogo... )) this is very reliable. but on the free trial, it takes a while to convert an hour and half movie; longer if its like LOTR: return of the king. and it might freeze up on you, just press ctrl + alt + delete to unfreeze it. it only cost about 20 dollars. plus it only takes you to convert the DVD in 3 easy steps: 1. find the dvd file 2. find a destination folder 3. convert as mpeg4 file and press CONVERT (the little button on the bottom right-corner) by the way, the dvd has to be an mpeg4 file and in quicktime version. so the file will read "[title of movie].mov"
that's why you need a converter for the DVD you can't just import the dvd to the ipod. that violates the copyright of the DVD.

second: once you convert it. put the file into a folder where it can be easily found. then go to your iTunes (if you don't have it yet, get it at http://www.apple.com/iTunes ) and go to file > import file > select the movie file > and click ok to import file.

there you have it. you got a movie to watch. enjoy it with a bowl of popcorn.

Apple use a form of mpeg4 with aac audio for the iPod.
It is rather fussy & annoying :(
But there are many mpeg transcoders available on the web.
