my camcorder is a Sony Handycam that uses Hi-8 cassettes. It has a "video out" on it and I am able to hook the camera up to my TV. How do I hook up the cam to my computer? I have a "video out" that I installed on my computer but I don't think I have a "video in" Do I need a certain program? And do I need another video card?

If your camcorder has a DV output, you should be able to hook it straight up to firewire.... get some cheap software like Magix and you can transfer video and photos. If you don't have the hookup right on your camcorder, then see the previous answer.
