That's not a fair question. First of all, it is way too early to call either a bust, if in fact they were. Alex Smith was rushed into starting last year when he wasn't even close to ready, but he has improved a LOT as this season goes along. His 15/14 touchdowns to INT isn't great, but last year it was 1 TD pass to 11 INTs. His rating this year is 75.9, again which isn't that impressive, but compared to his rating of 40.9 last year, it's great. He's going to be very good.
As for Mario Williams, he is going to be an all-pro. He has size and speed, but a lot of people will consider him a bust at first because Houston took him instead of the guy they should have chosen, Reggie Bush.
These guys are not busts, they will be good. You just have to give them time. Look at Elway, his first couple of years were terrible, it's hard to just jump into the league and be great right away.

Alex Smith: What was San Fran thinking when they took some weak armed spread offense, Urban Meyer coached QB first overall. Especially when a certain Aaron Rodgers was in the same draft class. I still don't get this, and its obvious teams don't learn because two spread offense future busts were taken this year over a better prospect, Jimmy Clausen. Bradford and Tebow will both be busts, mark my words. If Alex Smith doesn't show vast improvement, San Fran will be getting a new QB high in the draft next year, they've given him every oppertunity to succeed and so far he has been very mediorce. They have to find a real QB to start using talents like Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Mike Crabtree otherwise they'll all go to waste. Brady Quinn: I feel he wasn't fully given a shot in Cleveland and he still may be a decent QB if given a shot. I can at least see him sticking around as a back up somewhere which is much more than other "busts" can claim. Since my mom has more throwing power than Kyle Orton it wouldn't suprise me to see Quinn take over as the starter in Denver next season. Jamarcus Russell: May be the biggest bust in NFL history. Can't really blame Oakland for taking the guy since everyone had him hyped up as being the best QB prospect to come out in, well maybe ever. He was athletic and had the strongest arm EVER seen by anyone. Of course then he got paid and discovered Golden Corall, gained 400 lbs and the rest is history... I think any team in need of a QB would have drafted him first overall if they had the chance, so like I said you can't blame Oakland for drafting the guy.

That is a good question, I am thinking Mario Williams have a bigger bust, but Alex Smith could be the sexiest person, but he does not have a bigger bust.

The way Alex Smith is currently playing, you can't consider him a bust. Mario Williams hasn't had a great season, but it's too early to tell if he's a bust since this is only his rookie year.

Neither of them are a bust...Alex Smith is having a decent year, which is good considering his surroundings, and Williams leads the Texans in sacks, people just need to relax and give people a chance.

mario williams is a bigger bust, under norv turner Smith has progressed substantially from last years dissapointing start. Williams was drafted to help turn the texans D around and even if he was having a better year he alone wouldnt be able to turn them around by himself the way Vince Young has in Tennessee and to a lesser extent Reggie Bush in New Orleans.

It is difficult to compare a two-year player to a rookie, but if we were to compare them now, the bigger bust would be Mario Williams.
You would expect a whole lot more out of a 1st round, 1st pick defensive player, as of yet, no one has seen much from him. Coming from a good college, and being drafted high as possible, expectations are set high for Mario, and will remain high.

They only had 1 and 2 years in the league, don't you think it's a little early to start dropping bust bombs. As far as Smith is concerned, the kid is getting better and he will be a great QB in this league for years to come.
