All math is about theorems and proofs. In order to do math or to use a concept there needs to be a proof.

No, the study of geometry in high school has nothing to do with theorems, but everything to do with proofs. The geometry is really mostly unimportant. What is important is to understand the method of logical argument you learn to do in proofs. The hope is that you can take this forward into everyday life and be a logical, thinking person.

Of course there is plenty of room for "non-logicl" thinking in life, but the important thing is to know when it is necessary.

Depends on the course and the level of geometry. As noted by other posters, a lot of elementary geometry is about proofs and logic.

However, there is a side to geometry that is visual (Escher's drawings for instance), a side that is really bizzarre (Einstein's theories). A lot of geometry is about relationships between things. In school geometery, this is seen with similar figures, areas, stuff like that.

PS I hate geometry!

It appears that way. Every little thing you do in geometry always has a theorem or postulate to back it up. Also, when applying these theorems/postulates it usually means doing a proof.

Ya pretty much. im in geometry now and my whole first semester was proofs and theroms and we are still doing some proofs but not as many but theroms and postulates are a huge part of geometry

Yeah, it's about 70% proofs, 20% polygon/polyhedron areas and volumes, and 10% construction with compasses and protractors

geometry is about understanding all you can about shapes.

since geometry is a branch of mathematics, geometers have the luxury of using mathematical reasoning (i.e., proofs) to justify their claims and observations.

That is the gist of what geometry is all about.
