I"m a teacher and have had past students send me emails, call me or I run into them in local stores...not a problem as long as it doesn't become a habit. It's nice to catch up on information about how they're doing...and they do the same. I'd say go for it, but just do it respectfully and don't push the issue if he doesn't respond.

There's nothing wrong or immoral with emailing a former teacher. We ENJOY hearing from former students. For one, it means we must have done something right for them to think about us years later and actually want to contact us. We also like knowing that you're doing well. You might want to share a success that you've had because of something you learned from him. For instance, if you're doing well in algebra, you might want to thank him for helping you learn your multiplication tables.
Don't expect to become email buddies or anything as a result, but again, DO email him and thank him for being a great teacher. It reminds us of why we're in it. :)

Make sure that you identify yourself in the subject area (such as Jeff from 3rd grade in 2001) That way the teacher at least knows who is sending him a message since most teens have e-mail addresses that they might not recognize.
I think it's fun to get messages from former students who want to tell me what they are doing in high school or college.

I'm a teacher and I can tell you that our school's policy is NO communication - e-mail, phone, letter - between staff and students. If you have a legit question, have your parent/guardian do it for you.
There are plenty of ways written communication can be construed. Beside, even if the conversation were sweet as pie, they could be fired for violating policy.

It looks such as you are trying your terrific in a tricky subject. maximum good instructors could comprehend this and cut back you some slack. Like, in case you're saying to the instructor that this is tricky so you might do your terrific with the talking and interruptions, perhaps you would be allowed to end the attempt in a loose era or after college.

Absolutely...yes....I love hearing from former students. Just one email to touch base, just don't expect a lot of correspondence since others may also be doing the same thing. I think he'll be glad to hear from you!

I'm in the 9th grade, and I still communicate with one of my old teachers. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you sent him something. Just make sure to identify yourself so that he remembers you.
