I broke my left big toe-nail in half (horizontally) and the nail is there, and I can see a little blood underneath, but it's not dripping or anything. Should I wash it out? Leave it? Put Neosporin? Right now, I'm just leaving it alone. I'm just worried about infection.

The nail is cracked diagonally from the top right corner all the way to the middle left. It doesn't seem much, but it did bleed underneath.

I can't lift the nail or anything, it still seems partially attached. It's not bruised (turning blue or black), but like I said, it's not dripping blood either, it just bled under the nail.

Recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Just leave it alone if it is not actively bleeding. It will grow back. Just be sure you practice good foot hygiene so that it won't get infected. Do not wear closed shoes if it hurts.

You should be now in the Emergency Room at your nearest Hospital .
Be sure that you have a very clean towel wrapped around the foot and have someone drive you in .There you should be taken care of by surgeons who may have to stitch your toe and will give you the proper medicine to safeguard you from any infection. If you are reading this, I would recommend that you get going to the ER NOW.

Don't worry about it. I smashed both of my big toe nails. The nail fell off on both of them. But it came back again. You are probably lucky. You wont have a problem with it growing back. Neither of mine came back right. They look nasty underneath so I polish them so they don't look so bad.

Your toe nail will grow back. Just bandage it up in the mean time as it heals.
