Okay so i handed out 30 surveys today. For each question I am going to write out the answers, and the percentage of people who answered that.

So, say 15 people listen to music more than three hours a day. I know that is 50%, but if the number was weird, like 8, how would I figure that out?

just divide 8 by 30! then multiply that by 100. you already know how to do that anyway: 15 divided by 30 is 0.5; multiply by 100 and you get 50 percent!

(PS: when in doubt, use a calculator!)

It's the number, multiplied by 100, divided by the total number of surveys.

So, 8 * 100 / 30 = 800 / 30 = 26.666...%, round it to the nearest % to get 27%.

You take the counted number of people, divided by the total number of people, multiplied by 100.

So if the number was 8, then the percent would be 8/30 *100 = 26.7%

for 15 people, if you were actually solving it would look like:
15/30 (fifteen out of thirty)=.5=50%
do the same thing for 8
8/30 (eight out of thirty)=0.26666666666666666666666666666667
which is equal to about 26.67% or if you round it to the nearest whole percent it is 27%
