Some people of other ethnicities call black people "colored."Why is that. When you look in a box of crayons there is a black crayon and there is a WHITE and TAN crayon too.We are all colores. It doesn't matter what race you are your skin is some type of color. Why are we the only ones that are considered a "color?"

I dont think many Whites mean anything bad about it.... I mean we need to lighten up sometime...They dont know what to call us... We have these movements every 10 years or so and go from wanting to be called *****, to Colored, to Black, to AFRICAN AMERICAN, to AFRO american...I would much rather prefer that no one be referred to as a color... we are all americans....!!! But some dont mean any harm...I went looking at some homes the other day and asked the real estate agent who is white...How diverse the neighborhood was...and He looked kinda nervous.... and siad well we have a lot of COLOREDS around here...but I kow he didnt mean anything....Many whotes arent racist....but some are you just have to weed them out...:)

What is wrong with the term colored? How many black people are actually black? How many actual white people do you see?

Why do people constantly complain about insignificant things? Who decides what people are supposed to be called. I remember when colored was perfectly acceptable. Then it was *****. Then that was no good, black was the preferred designation. Then African American (which is ridiculous because most of them have never been to Africa - I have).

Why can't people stop finding offense where no offense is intended.

Incidentally, I am a native American. I am not an Indian, but I was born here. American Indians are actually aboriginal Americans. But they have always been called Indians. What's wrong with the term Indian?

I am not sure myself. I thought "colored was no longer an acceptable term. Years ago it used to be ******, which is an actual race of people and I am not sure why anyone would find it offensive because blacks are Negroids as far as genus is concerned. Then it went to "colored" and after that it was "black" and now the correct term is "African-American" The term African-American just divides our nation of people as opposed to uniting us. I think we should just all be proud we live in this blessed country and we should all be Americans. Oh, and I have seen bruised black people and black people with black eyes and I have even seen them get to much sun or blush to a certain degree as well

I agree. I mean if latinos are brown and Asians are yellow then why aren't whites considered pink? Throughout history, they've always associated white as being "good" so that's why they want to think of themselves that way.

because some people cant get past race and the need to separate the ethnic groups so they fell better.

i don't have anything against racists,as long as they keep ti to them selves (freedom of speech is one thing but hate against men?). there are/were many important people in history that were racist.

I very rarely hear this word any more. No offense, but I think the word "blacks" isn't much better.

It's not just black people - anyone who isn't white is called coloured. I think it's stupid.
