Bike or bird
Bird=earache
Bike=birds
Buy a bike and you are in a win / win situation
Listen to the bird and you loose the right to call yourself a man
Sorry if thats a bit harsh but thats life brother.

I'm sorry, Since you already gave in and sold the bikes you had because she told you to, I don't have any argument that would work. Once the foot goes down, chances are it won't come back up. I saw the for better, for worse comment.. in your case that's no longer guaranteed. I once knew a woman who would not look twice at a guy with a bike. Certainly would not go out with one. I owned two. She married me almost 7 years ago, and I still own 2. Not the same ones either.

Sadly, there's no easy way of convincing her, trust me. I'm single, but if the woman in your life doesn't stop you, then it's probably the family, or more usually, the parents, preventing you.
I considered the idea of two wheels, having been scared at my insurance premuims to drive a car (I'm 19), particularly at a time when money wasn't really flying towards me like a set of wasps on a discarded coke can. I argued it'd get me about cheaply, but the parents would have none of it.
To be fair, with all the lunitics driving the buses in Bradford, and the girlies doing more 'important' things behind the wheel (adjusting the make-up, that sort of thing), you can hardly call motorcycling 'safe'.
Convincing anyone that biking is much of a sensible option is nigh-on-impossible... unless they're bikers themselves.

You're actually planning on marrying someone who tries to tell you what you can and cannot do.
There are some things that must be compromised when you marry, you have to share the same space and allowances must be made for one another there, but this isn't one of those things.
I speak to a lot of people who say he/she wont LET me go out for an evening, wear such and such, ride a bike, go on holiday on my own, etc etc.
You don't need ANYBODY's permission to do ANYTHING. Remember this - it's important.

Though you're best bet is to talk to her... be the good little boy and promise be sensible, no filtering through traffic etc. Be adult about the whole thing, though to stack the deck, take her outto dinner or sommat, anything to let her know you're not being selfish. Though i would say it's a general problem, girls don't understand, that boys NEED to be boys.
Oh, and get a Triumph Bonneville or Scambler... awesome bikes!

Just say you've now got an interest in adrenalin sports like ice climbing and paragliding. The bike looks tame next to them.
PS. You should never have got rid of the bike in the first place, no woman is worth that sacrifice.

No your going about it wrong!. you sound like you said to "she who must be obeyed" that you would like. NA NA bad Answer?
What you mean to say is I NEED A BIKE FOR Commuting!.
Or if that doesn't work you could do what my uncle did save up without her knowing go out buy one, store it at your best mates house in his garage get p*ssed then just blurt it out one night in the middle of a party. The second option prob ain't the best Go with OPTION 1.
Good luck.

My hubby has had bikes since I've known him. They are part of him and his life and I would never expect him to ditch the bikes (he currently has 2)
If your fiancee is giving you hassle already over a simple pleasure of biking, what will she be like when you get wed?
Just go and buy one and tell her when you see her. (Don't take your lid off though, you might need the protection!)

Try making a deal with her. There's got to be something she wants in exchange for letting you have the bike. Ask her to name the price, and you'll do anything it takes to get her approval.
Be patient, something will come up down the line. In the future, she's going to want something, and it will be your turn to say no.
If that doesn't work, its time to get separate checking accounts. My parents did that so they can budget in some of their own freedom and decision making.
