What are these point cards for it that I have seen advertise for the Wii? Please add any details about internet or games I should know. Thanks for all you who are answering this!! : )

The Wii is wireless, so it can connect to your wireless connection. They are also making adapters to connect with a wire. You can buy points either online or in the store and use the points to purchase games online. They just recently released the Forecast channel where you can see your local weather (although it is not updated often) as well as weather around the world. Also, they released the free trial version of the web browser, Opera, which can be used similar to the internet explorer on your computer, but it takes a little more effort to type and browse. The resolution is generally not as good since you're viewing it on a TV instead of a computer, so you have to zoom in to read small text, but if for some reason your computer was broken it is not a bad tool to view the Internet. You can also communicate with other Wiis when you are connected to the Internet, and they are releasing the News channel in January. However, the internet capabilities are surpassed by the amusing games for the Wii, that's really what it's all about. Hope that helps!

Hope this helps, you do NOT need to hook to your computer or have an internet subscription.

The Wii console communicates with the Internet even when the power is turned off. Users connect wirelessly through an IEEE or a USB LAN adaptor or through the Nintendo DS wirelessly.

The Wii game system supports single- and dual-layer Wii discs as well as GameCube discs.

The controller is battery-powered and functions as a remote for the Wii. It includes the Direct Pointing Device with a three-axis accelerometer, indicator LEDs and rumble (which can be adjusted for intensity and turned off).

The controller can be used by itself, with a Nunchaku extension and with a classic controller. Nintendo plans to release more extensions, and you can use the GameCube's bongos for "Donkey Kong" in either Wii or GameCube mode.

here is their homepage: have fun!

First, you do not need to hook it to your computer for the internet.

Secondly, you can download the Opera Browser for the Wii and browse internet sites, watch video, play flash games, etc. There is also the Forecast channel for real-time weather (also used in some games) and the upcoming news channel for real-time news.

In addition, the console can update itself via the internet, and you have the option to purchase classic games from older video game consoles using Wii points. You then download these games to your console.

For a current list of available games in North America, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_titles_%28North_America%29 . For Europe go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_titles_%28Europe%29 .

In the future, there will be games that you will be able to buy that will allow you to play against other players over the internet. That will be fun!

I hope that helps.
