This was on an episode of "The Agency" a long time ago, the CIA psychologist was obessing over the Psychological profile of Adolf Hitler. He mentioned he met a man that met Adolf Hilter and remarked how he was one handshake removed from actually meeting him. That made me think, whom am I one or a few handshakes removed from actually meeting...

- Adolf Hitler; Met an elderly German man that was in Hitler's Youth and actually met him, when he was forced to defeat Berlin in Hitler's last stand
- Charles Manson; Two hand shakes removed, an older friend knew Tex Watson back in the 1960's, Tex Watson was apart of the Manson Clan.
- President George W. Bush; Three Handshakes removed, Met a CEO of a major defense contracting corporation, whom met the under sec of Def, who knows the Sec of Def. Who knows the President.
- Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera; aquintance with an elderly artist, whom knew her.

- President Richard Nixon. One handshake removed. I knew a retired Navy Master Chief, that got to meet President Richard Nixon, when President Nixon made an impromptu visit to his ship, while he was on watch on the Quarterdeck and greeted him as he came aboard.

It appears we are all interconnected in one way or another, I may be one, two or three handshakes removed from meeting or knowing you.

I know this sounds incredible, but you will love it!

I'm 56 years old. When I was a little girl, there was a very, very old lady in our church, Miss Irene Dornblazer. This was in the late 50's, and she was in her upper 90's at the time, sharp as a tack.

She related how as a little girl of about 5 years old, she was in her yard when a party of people traveling by stopped for a drink of water from the well. They stayed a little while and cooled down, chatting with the homeowners and servants. Irene sat in the tall man's lap for a short while.

That man was Abraham Lincoln, and I am one handshake away from him!!

The realization gives me goosebumps!

I work for a regional planning agency and I volunteer with a community development group, so I deal with a lot of politicians. I've shaken hands with numerous state legislators, mayors, and County commissioners who have shaken hands with PA's Governor(s), who has shaken hands with the President. So I'd say I'm about 2 or 3 handshakes away from the President and 3 or 4 away from every modern world leader. Pretty cool - I never thought of that!

(The lady with the Abraham Lincoln story should win though - that's awesome!)

Hmmm...I met Kirstie Allie's (sp?) dad at my great-grandpa's funeral, so I'm 2 handshakes removed from her.

I met Reba McEntire when I was 5, so I guess I'm no handshakes removed (still not entirely certain how it works).

Denzel Washington--a girl I knew in college was friends with a girl who babysat his kids (or so I'm told).

I think there are more, but I'm tired right now.
