There are no more or less ideas about the "Why" as there were twenty years ago.
My question is "why does it matter?"
Why can't we simply accept that there are people of different sexualities and let it go at that?
I was always raised to believe that a person's worth is in their deeds and actions rather than their skin color, family history, hair color, eye color, handedness, religion, cultural back ground/ethnisity, gender, gender identitiy or sexuality.
I know I'm a person of my word, I work hard, I'm a good citizen, a good neighbor, a good parent, a good daughter, a good sister, a good aunt, I'm creative, caring, compassionate, giving, charitable, forgiving, creative and kind.
I have taught my son by the same values I was raised with and expect back as much as I'm willing to give.
Aren't these really the things that matter most in life?

A current theory is that ones sexuality is a combination of environmental and genetic factors, although mostly genetic.
This is why people at young ages describe sexual characteristics and tendencies long before being socialized into that lifestyle. Example: a male gay child may demonstrate feminine behavior, like playing with dolls, or wanting to be the mother when they play "house". These kids do not consciuosly act this way, there are physical and hormonal issues that scientists are still revealing.

Good point. A lot of ts's dont like to be associateed with the "T" words when they have finished with transition, because they are no longer transsexual but the gender they are. Transseuxalism is to do with gender identity and is a recognised medical condition, it is almost like an intersexed condition, but with just the brain's gender part is wrong. I dont have any problems with the LGB community, but they do have majorly different needs to us, as we generally need medical attention, like surgery and hormone therapy, being transsexual is almost like being anorexic. So, often, it is a good idea to seperate the two, (and even the actual T group up as transvestites are completely different to ts's, and tg's are in between both stages of tv and ts.) But natrually, if people group together, then getting things like equal rights etc becomes less of a daunting task. Strength in numbers.

let's try to turn the card...say this is the gay world where the straight people are the minority...then the question would be...why are some people straight...? i'm gay but i wonder why some people are attracted to different gender...?if you can answer that then that's the answer to your question...!

I do believe that people become gay for possibly different reasons. They may have lacked an intimacy with the parent of their own sex. They may have had been molested or exposed to immoral sexuality actions at a young age. They may also choose to explore same sex relationships on their own free will. I do not believe that they are "born that way". I believe it comes down to choice. Their are people that have choosed not to be gay and have changed their lives. I do believe that how we live our lives is how we choose to live. Sadly traumatic events in our lives can shape our choices later in life.

No one knows what makes you any sexuality whether is be hetero, homo, or bi. It's probably due to a balance of both genetic and environmental causes.
