Do you have XP? if you buy apple you will have to get used to a whole new operating system.. OR buy another operating system (150) separate and install it.
Apples.. in my opinion, are just overpriced machines. they look magnificent, but they are soooo overpriced. the cheapest one is 600 dollars! and it doesnt even come with a keyboard or a mouse, no moniter.. nothing!
in fact, the 600 computer from apple, you can get the same specs on a dell computer for 360 dollars. i did it myself.. and the dell came with a keyboard and mouse.
So if your rich, and just want a good looking computer (external wise) then by all means get an apple. but if you really want the bang for your buck. get a dell.
the person above me doesnt know about viruses. viruses arent written for Dell computers, thats just absurd! viruses are written for Windows XP, so if you have ANY computer running XP.. yes it can even be a new apple running XP you are just as likely to a virus as a dell is. Also, as soon as more people start using Apple's computer while running Apples Operating system (OS X TIGER) then they will start getting viruses. theres no way avoiding it. Trust me, apple isnt the only computer company that offers school discounts.. Many colleges use Gateway computers and most k-12 schools around here where i am (eastern washington) use dell.

I would suggest Dell. If you call them in the middle of the night with a problem, they're award-winning customer service representatives from India will answer the phone. They will confuse you or not understand your question for a good 35 minutes after which time you won't care that your computer is broken. If you manage to have some decent dialogue and finally give them the serial number on the back of your computer, they will let you know that your warranty expired last week, no matter what day you call them. Go Dell.

I use both. I like the feel of the Apple, but I also like the compatibility of the Dell. If I could only buy one, I would buy the Apple. (My Mac uses the same mouse as my Dell.) Good luck.

Apple.
An apple rarely gets viruses, becuase when someone makes a virus they program it for a DELL because more people have dells and they're more compatible. Apple also gives discounts to schools, and doesn't freeze as much. i have a dell and am not very happy with it

Dell is easier to use, if your used to windows, and the normal left and right click. Apple only has one click, and some games requires the left and right clicks.

My next computer will be a Mac. Why, you ask? Because the new 'Intel' powered Macs can be loaded with both OS X and Windows(you get OS X with the computer).........the best of both worlds. Also, Macs do not have a Ram limit, install as much as you want........PC's can only handle 4 gigs.
