Elton John raises millions for charities every year, helping under-priveleged kids go to school, poor people et AIDs drugs, etc. He's a real hero.

Thousands of gay people in the U.S. quietly volunteer to mentor isolated and neglected inner city youth, becoming a real 'big brother /big sister' to them. This seldoms gets noticed, but 100s of kids grow up wth the wondeful support and example of a kind gay man or woman giving them a helping hand.

If you want to volunteer, contact your local United Way and ask about the Big Brother program. You don't have to be famous to be someone's hero.
