Why do people insist on playing video games, they ruin brains, lives and except for the few that make money?

some people need video games to get away from there normal lives cuz they can forget whether they have weight issues or if they r popular or not or if some jerk did somethin to them. video games put u in the center of the story where u make who u r so that people can just sit back 4get about theyre worries and be the hero or heroine and save the world or a lil town and look however they want to look. of course they start as a noob but then they evolve into a hero. MARK MY WORDS " IN EVERY NOOB THERE IS A HERO BORN. IT IS THEYRE CHOICE WHETER THEY R GOOD OR BAD." that my friend is y people play video games to become heros

i want to be frank I play games very frequently and consider myself pretty smart except spelling sometimes. Video games actually make you smarter not only do they improve eye hand coordination they improve your brains photographic 3dimensional thinking and memory. there was article in life magazine the gamers were aware of their environment compared to non gamers by as much as 50 percent this comes down to eye hand coordination and visual mapping in the brain. What I mean by aware is in certain circumstances like driving the gamers response was quicker because the brain has literally been trained. The military has known this for a while now that's why they use simulators for the armed forces. Video games improve memory eye hand coordination because most games require fast response and the ability to think your way out of trick situations
and go to many places by memory in relation to the map just play gta San Andreas without the map I can remember the whole map in my mind. there are some math English learning games
I guess they can make kids smarter in a traditional sense but what I have just explained is more complex and has just been recently researched.

True i agree with the fact that it really hurt the income but if you are not soooo adicted to it. It can be a very good entertainment system. The ruin brain works with my cosion who is getting dumber by the sec but if there is restriction there is no problem with a little fun. (dependent on the games you play and buy)

Why do people drink beer, smoke cigarettes, do drugs, steal things, attack people, kill people? Those would all be more important questions. Video games are fun. Why do you have a computer? Does the internet cost you money? If a video game ruins someones life, they were messed up before playing video games.

Some people have the ability to play as a hobby. And that's all it is to them. Like anything, for some, it can become an addiction. The same question could be asked about just about anything...even Yahoo Answers. It's just a hobby for most people. Some people just become obsessed.

Having one means you have something to do during a rainy day or something to help you get over a break up. Just dont get too addicted. Just get a game thats fun and has other ppl in it like WoW,
Guildwars or Rakion. Those games are either monthly paid, bought once or free, respectively
