Could it happen? Jeff is interested in becoming a Brewer and the Brewers are interested in having him. Good start.
Will it happen? If the offer by the Brewers is fair to Jeff, more than likely.
What if it does? The Brewers add a much need 5th starter to their rotation.
His 5-0 lifetime record at Miller Park means nothing though. At the time he was pitching for St.Louis who gave him good run support.
He will not be posting a be posting a 44-26 record in Milwaukee with a 3.95 era. More like 26-44.
He's now playing on a team that is bottom tier in the league in overall run support year after year.

Rumors are strong on his likely going to the Brewers, but Suppan is not a franchise type pitcher. Ben Sheets has the potential for being a franchise pitcher for the Brewers. What if it does? The Brewers have been around .500 the last couple of seasons and may be in a position to take the division if (a) it stays as tight in 2007 as it did in 2006, (b) adding Suppan turns 10 losses into wins, and (c) the Cards and Reds don't do anything dramatic. Big ifs.

The Brewers haven't really done anything this off season. I believe it could happen because they haven't signed anyone other than Craig Counsell.
I believe it will happen. Milwaukee is gaining a better reputation than it has had in years past. They now have a few more bucks to shell out.
If it does happen, look for the Brewers to contend next year. They had a hell of a time with injuries last season. They are only a few players away from being a really good team. Suppan is one step closer. I think their rookies being a year older is going to help as well.

I don't know if it will - the Mets and Pirates are also bidding on Sup, and the Mets (at least) have more money to spend than Milwaukee.
Having spent the last 2 years with the Cards, though, I would think that Sup would want to stay with an NL Central team - he knows the division and has pitched well in it.

It could happen. I would like to see him come back to the Cardinals, but I don't see that happening. Chances are he will command MUCH more than he is worth and Jocketty and LaRussa are too smart for that. Hopefully they'll sign another FA pitcher over the winter (whether it be one of their own like Mulder, Suppan, or Weaver) or a FA from another team. Either way they should be able to work it out. I would like to see Weaver come back. Even with his agent being Scott Boras, he probably won't command as much money or as many years as Suppan. Also, Weaver works well with Duncan. Hopefully something will work out. I hate to see Suppan go, but he might be asking for too much. Either way, I think Suppan does better in the AL.

It could..He won his ring soo that won't play a factor in his decision..he'll go where there's the least amount of pressure and whoever will give him the most money..Milwaukee may be a good fit for him..no pressure and will receive a respectable offer since they're desperate for pitching

Suppan is a good #2 starter WITH a good defense behind him. Which is what he has in STL. In Milwaukee, he's at best a #4 starter.
