YES!!! The problem is the world thinks everyone needs therapy. Deal with your problems, dont pay someone to tell you how to deal with them.

"NEED" is a pretty strong word....and therapy is a very loose term.

Do you think they had therapists back in cave-man days? Absolutely not.

"Therapy" can come in many forms and can come from many different people. Your mom, for example, could talk to you about some problems in your life. Or not. What matters is if you can still function.

Now, some people are marginally insane, and stand out among a LARGE group of people. I'd say therapy or psychiatry is almost essential to them.

Now, for depression or other mental illness, therapy can be a nice release and help people in certain situations where times can be hard. It's kind of like a nice massage, you don't necessarily NEED it, but it can be a nice healing process that can help you function better.

Of course. People learn coping skills. Just because you have had a problem or two in your life...even BIG ones...doesn't mean you need therapy. If you have developed the coping skills to handle bad experiences in a positive way...you don't need therapy. Those who do need it...just need help to develop the coping skills to deal with the problem(s).

Only crazy people think they're sane...

For some, therapy, whether sane or not, can be a wonderful release, but for others it has no lasting or real effect.

Just because X happened in your childhood, and some therapist "cures" you, doesn't mean you'll necessarily stop performing act Y...unless you want to.

Need? No functional individual needs therapy unless they themselves feel that they need therapy. Although those whose problems (any problem, including physical) that disrupt the quality of their life should seek help if possible.

Just like you can interpret your dreams better then someone else, you can fix your own problems yourself, people just like putting faith in other things. Kinda like how a child looks at his parent when they're watching something funny to see if they laugh, if the parent laughs, so does the child. Some people need to be told what to do or they won't do it.
