Racism is the belief your race is superior to all others, regardless of evidence to the contrary. In small ways almost all of us are racist. There's really no better term for it. From what I have seen, no race is superior to any other. Some have been luckier, some have been unfairly persecuted by other races, but none can claim to be the best. Brilliance, industry, and innovation are not exclusive to any race.

Below is a dictionary definition. I think that what we are finding more and more in the UK is Xenophobia, where these bigots hate everyone they believe to be foreign. There are other forms there you can read for yourself. Rascism is perhaps to specific perhaps we could try bigotry. A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, a person who is obstinately devoted to their prejudices even when these views are challenged or proven to be false. Forms of bigotry may have a related ideology or world views.
" Racism is commonly defined as a belief or doctrine where inherent biological differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, with a corollary that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.[1]
The term racism is sometimes used to refer to preference for one's own ethnic group (ethnocentrism),[2] fear of foreigners (xenophobia), views or preferences against interbreeding of the races (miscegenation),[3], and/or a generalization of a specific group of people (stereotype); regardless of any explicit belief in superiority or inferiority embedded within such views or preferences. Racism has been used in attempts to justify social discrimination, racial segregation and violence, including genocide. Politicians are known to practice race-baiting in an effort to win constituents.
The term racist, when used to describe someone who supports racism, has been a pejorative term since at least the 1940s, and the identification of a group or person as racist is nearly always controversial. "

As William Shakespeare said, " A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"
It means you cant change the nature of something by changing the name.
Prejudice is what you are really trying to get rid of but it is mans inherent nature to judge Or pre-judge each other and race just one way! We could get rid of racism but only by accepting our own superiourity cant exist!
Racism, Sexism, and any other 'ism' is prejudice under a different name. Call them all 'prejudice' but you still wont get rid of the behaviour. We react to people first by sight and first impressions count more than we think.

There was a song in the old musical movie, "South Pacific". This is truly why racism goes round and round...
Part of the lyrics went
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people who's skin is a different shade
And people who's eyes are oddly made.
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late!
Before you are six, or seven or eight,
to hate all the people your relatives hate.
You've got to be carefully taught.

Racism- the belief that one race is better, in any way, than another.
The definition seems to fit. So no
P.S. mbm is right, you shouldn't misuse the word in place of prejudice, unfairness or something like that

I think it should just not exist. I don't see why anyone has a big problem with something as small as a skin colour. What is so different between people of different colours. It's not like their colour determines how they think and act. IT'S A COLOUR!

Racism will never be abolished as long as there are bigots on this earth.
Bigotry is the only other name for it.
More's the pity

my sister always says,
"there is no such thing as racism"
i dont know why she says that - maybe it's to make fun of John Howard's statement that "Australian's aren't racist"
who cares anyway -Im not racist, I Hate everyone equally!
