Is it easy to change university for the second year and be able to stay with the same sort of course in which you are doing? I am doing graphic design. I am doing well in the course, but am just not happy with the area. I am happy to be away from home, but at the same time I haven't made as many friends as I had hoped to. I know the course is the most important thing, but I really feel that I am missing out on the whole university experience where I am. It is not a very lively place and not that much happens.

It is possible to change uni but your best bet is to look around and ask if another uni will take you first. Then you must approach your programme manager and discuss this with them in detail as they will be able to tell you all your optins etc. Try going to the student union and see if they can give you advice if you dont feel you programme manager is helpful.
But if its cos you havnt made as many friends as you thought try joining a few societies as you will meet more people. It seems a shame to move when you are doing well on your degree, as you may not do as well elsewhere. Also if you move it will be harder to make freinds as the cohort will have already been together for a year and friendships made so you might go backwards here and end up unhappy. Remember you only have 2 years left and now the work really starts...

I had a similar problem myself although decided to stay at my original choice.

A lot of universities do second year entry programs (some even do third year entry), but there is an application process that requires an interview etc. You may also experience difficulty in that you have been taught different modules to the other students, although this won't affect your chances of entry.

Leaving your current institution is easy; you just need to sign a form.

All things considered, however, why not see your current position as a challenge? Moving away from things often doesn't work, and if you don't like the new place you may regret it. To be honest, I didn't start making friends until my final year.

Where are you (which uni) might I ask?

Yes, it is easy to change (or transfer) to another university. You will need to order (and pay a small fee) for an official transcript to be sent to your new college of choice. Also, I recommend you take an unofficial copy of your transcript with you to meet with an academic advisor at your new college. Once you enroll in your new classes, make sure you purchase a copy of undergraduate programs from the bookstore. That will be your guide for future coursework, altho' the advisors are also there to help and answer questions. They are very helpful and their services are free.

All credits at college level with a grade of "C" or better should transfer if your previous school was accredited. I wish you all the best.
