You can check out this site www.crochetpatterncentral.com for many patterns of different skill levels. I check there almost daily for new patterns to download.
easy things to crochet? How about a scarf? Or an afghan? If you know how to crochet "in the round" you can make a hat.

Scarves and hats to match. Stores, like Wal-Mart, Michaels', Handcock Fabrics, often provide free patterns when you purchase their yarns.
Doilies are a possibility too.

You can make a blanket out of a lot of granny squares. Debbie Stoller's "The Happy Hooker" book is AWESOME and has tons of cool patterns and really good instructions (with pictures! : D)
