I'm trying to edit a file on a CD but it won't let me. I also want to add new files to it but I always get a dialogue box saying that it's either a read-only CD or it's full...and the CD is not even full (it only has 1 file)

Thanks in advance =)

It sounds like that CD is a CD-R (meaning you can only write to it once). You cannot edit files on those CDs or write to them again. To edit that file, copy it to your hard drive.

If you're trying to edit a CD-R after it has been closed/finalized you can't. Same thing on a cd-rw if the disc has been finalized. If it has not been finalized, try right-click the cd is question, select properties and uncheck the Read-only box.

What it is trying to tell you is that you can't add files to it,, edit files on it or change the CD in any way.

You're cd is probably a CD-R. You can edit your file by copying it tou your drive. Although you cannot save it back to the cd again. Another, you can buy CD-RW which is edit-enable.
