However judging by the number of times this question gets asked I would guess it's quite a lot.

Never, but what list do you mean? If you are talking about the one on the main page, it is rare to see yours there, and I even think it may filter out your own questions since you can not answer them.
If you mean the questions that show on the mainpage, then that always happens to me, but because it is supposed to.

Yahoo is now aggressively screening questions by keyword. If you use the words sex, nude, naked, etc.... they are going to hold your question for review, then eventually, usually hours later, put it in que.
Lately, they have been screwing up and not putting the questions in que, but showing them on your questions asked page.
