Dell or Toshiba make the best laptop. HP is not bad either. Sony is just average like Compaq.

my father works at a company who works on all types of computers and he says that dells are one of the best, i myself have had many different types of computers and i too have found that my dell laptop which i have now is the best and they're the most reliable when it comes to customer service and warranty, the best one the i like is the 9300 but if you are into games and graphics the xps is a really nice one as well
