I've got no problem with gay people getting married and adopting/having children. I don't think the church should do gay weddings because it's against their beliefs and pretty hypocritical of them to endorse gay marriages when they think homosexuality is a sin

I am sick of this SH*T. Does majority rule, or does minority rule? Majority says they shouldn't be, but since we now live in a society where everyone has to walk with a finger in their butt, one hand over their mouth, and only say what is politically correct. Since when did the minority start pushing us around demanding we give them this and that. The truth is, is gays are the minority. If you don't like what you hear, close you ears. If you don't like what you see close your eyes. Did anyone hear about the teacher in Florida a few months ago, who took an American flag down and tried to ban raising a flag on their school property, because she was afraid it would offend a Muslim? This is the same thing, Men and Women have been getting married since they were created, not men and men, or 2 women. And I dare one more person to say that religion doesn't belong in the law. I dare anyone to find the Phrase separation of church and state in the constitution. Its not there. It was a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson to the Baptist leaders that the government wouldn't meddle in their affairs. All that meant is that the government would not favor one Christian denomination over another. And according to the Bill Of Rights Amendment 1. I have the right to exercise my religion where ever I want, including a courthouse.

Neither. I don't agree with gay marriage. God did not intend for marriage to become so bastardized that same gender people become "husband and husband" or "wife and wife". And I don't agree with gay couples raising children. It's wrong any way you look at it. However, I'm not a homophobe either who thinks they should all be slaughtered in their beds (or eaten by king kong). I do think that not just on the gay issue, but on the issues of pedophiles, rapists, murderers, abortion, etc etc etc we are so busy being "humanist" and "politically correct" that we have lost track of the commandments of God. Wrong is wrong, no matter what it is, and ignoring it and trying to be so "careful" about other people's feelings is just a cop out to keep from "offending anybody" If more people would speak out instead of tucking their heads into their shoulders and sneaking away, the world would not be in the shape it's in.

Since all they want is a CIVIL union they should be able to marry. Marriage was not originally a religious thing. Marriage started out as a civil union by fathers who wanted a "creative" way to rid their families of their female children. Male children were more important to a family than female children. So well to do fathers would offer livestock/land/money to men who came and took their daughter's off their hands to be wives. Religion only came into the picutre a little over 2,000 years ago. So yeppers Gays should have the same financial rights as straights when it comes to relationships. Whether the original poster likes it or not.

The previous answer is incorrect.

This is NOT a Christian Nation. Treaty of Tripoli, which was ratified by the US Senate specifically says "The Government of the United States was in no way founded on the Christian religion"

Also the idea that the First Amendment was to prohibit favoring one christian religion over the other is also incorrect.

Everson vs. Board of Education (US Supreme Court -1947) --"The 'establishment of religion' clause of the First Amendment means at least this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church. Neither can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another."

Nothing in there about it applying only to Christian (or non-Christian religions)

I think they should have the same rights that we have. They are humans to, they love just like everyone else. They are not different or wrong because of who they love. And they should not be punished by not being aloud to get married because they love someone the same sex. Love is love no matter if they are gay or straight.

If we stop gay people from being married, then why don't we stop ugly and dumb people from breeding?

I'm all for gay marriage. Being gay does not hurt anyone, and letting gay people get married does not hurt anyone.
