I dont quite see it as saying "phuck off, you losers"
Its just an easy way to blame the poor for being where they are at, and at the same pressure others to comply with the system.
Nobody would like to realize, that things like not raising the minimum wages for several years contributes to the poor staying poor - even while working.
Even congress members got several raises where the poor - due to inflation - actually work for less and less money when depending on minimum wages.
Thats just one problem you dont need to take care of when saying that being poor is due to lack of education.

Colleges and universities do not have a monopoly on educating people.
If one is motivated enough to learn, then one could certainly do so without spending money at all. Now getting a degree is another matter. But there are certainly other ways of demonstrating knowledge.
Unfortunately, as with practically everything, money just makes it alot easier.
The simple generalization involved in saying "get a better education" to one who is poor demonstrates the ignorance of the person that makes such a stereotypical statement.
Income brackets do not reflect intelligence.
Some very intelligent people are or have been poor by choice or circumstance.
Some very stupid people are or have been millionaires.

People need to find their own path.
Some are smart and should be in college. To those there are student loans and financial aid. Its not hard to sigh up. Any one can get into college. Just apply at a state school.
But you will pay latter.
Some folks like to work in manufacturing or such. Great for them but they got to go where the jobs are. That means relocating to pro business states.

I think it all really comes down too... people who say that, think that everyone can just take off four years and go to school and live off their trust fund...
surprise... the poor don't have trust funds...
and beyond that, their teachers in public school weren't very good in a poor neighborhood... and bad teachers turn out bad students... and bad students don't go to college...
they are so out of touch with the majority of America living pay check to pay check, they may as well be speaking a different language... they have no clue what so ever to the multitude of advantages they had

Why just college, why not an apprenticeship, that is an education and you get paid. When you are finished you can get a really good job with decent pay.

Yep.
I am poor - got accepted to do my masters - couldn't go - cos I couldn't afford it - so now conservatives call me stupid?
Conservatives really should get reality...instead of acting like mamies spoilt little princesses.
I am completely sickened by them. They serve no purpose, other than pissing people off..

Because they have apparently never been in this situation. Some of the answers to other questions are so cold and unfeeling it really makes you wonder about people.
