concerning the GPU (graphics processing unit) there is a tie. the 6800XT is the older technology but has the advantage of a 256bit memory interface (128bit on the 7600GS) and the faster ram type GDDR3 compared with only GDDR2 for the 7600GS. this breaks the tie in favor of the 6800XT.

keep in mind that the XT is the best within a series, the GS is the midfield and LE is the low end. so the XT of an older series can tie the GS of a newer series. the price also tells you something.

compare the specs on the Nvidia homepage

The GeForce 7 series is a much better card for gaming. The GeForce 6 series is a older generation. Go with the Tigerdirect's card.

The one from newegg, the XFX 6800. It has GDDR3 type memory, and 8 pixle pipelines.

they seem to me, at a glance, like very similar video cards. i would say, buy the one from TigerDirect, because it is cheaper, and is from TigerDirect. i've had very good experiences with tigerdirect, i.e. fast shipping, cheap prices, etc.

the 7600 wthout a doubt, it is a faster card on paper at least, for instance look at its pixil pipeline, its almost double the 6800's.
