I was just wondering if you've visited Miami before. It really is a beautiful place to live, but the cost of living seems to be steadily increasing, while the salaries are not. My husband and I are finding it difficult making ends meet. If you have a high skilled job, then finding work is not a problem. Otherwise, a great deal of jobs pay minimum wage, and it's hard to find a job dealing with the public if you don't speak Spanish. There are always jobs open in the tourism industry, such as restaurants, and hotels.

One thing about Miami is that many more people move in everyday than move out and most of them do not have jobs when they get there. It is not unusual to be at a restaurant and find out that your waiter/waitress had a professional career in some other part of the country before moving to Miami where there are many, many more people than there are professional career opportunities.

The hospitality/tourism industry rules the area so getting seasonal work from March to September is not unusual. It is important to speak Spanish and to speak it well to get a job in tourism in Miami.

If I were you, I would try to get a job before you decide to move. Miami can be a very cruel place to the unemployed because it is very expensive to live there

Good Luck

Miami seems to be nice place to be living.Apparentely they do not pay too much, life is cheaper there.U should learn or speak already Spanish, as everybody there assumes you understands it, and they all address you in Spanish. You can work in a hotel or a mall, as they are plenty around....
