1. You got to know first what kind of look you want. Do you want smoky eyes, a sparkling diva look, a summery shade, a godess look or anything that you saw?
2. After you decide the look you want, choose your make-up pallette. Is it the browns, the corals, the pinks? Sample, Smokey Eye Makeup Guide: Choose your eye shadow colours.
The traditional smokey eye makeup eye shadow colours are, of course, black or grey. You are however not limited to these eye shadow colour choices, you can also use less intense eye shadow colours such as: violet, chocolate, coffee, dark pink, copper, dark green, dark blue or purple.
Remember when choosing eye shadow shades that colours should be chosen keeping in mind your eye colour, hair colour and skin tone and not the colour of the clothes you wear
3. Choose shades suitable to your skin color and hair color. The counter girl at the store can help you decide on that.
4. Less is always more.
5. Practice makes perfect

for eyeliner, use a pencil eyeline first and then go back over it with liquid eyeliner, this will make it more visible but not globby. And use gel eyeshadows, they stay on longer
