NO WAY. In fact, it is a BAD idea to put premium fuel from the pump in any car these days. If premium fuel is really needed, buy regular unleaded and then add an octane booster. If you buy premium at the pump, it will be older and more condensated because the high gas prices are resulting in very few ppl buying premium. My Corvette runs better on straight unleaded than premium because of this. The answer to your full question is that you don't even need the octane booster. That 3800 motor will run great on unleaded with no gas knock.

If it has a super charger or is a high performance engine it runs on premiium . however if you do the math the price of gas works out to about a 4 dollar per tankful hit or about one gallon of gas per tankful. I get a laughing kick in the butt for every nut who whines about losing 15 miles per TANKFULL BFD that is too funny you end up with a cool killer running muscle car with some good power and they cry over a gallon extra a tankful out of the wallet . go figure. Most high performance engines the computer can compensate some, but not enough to run around town like steve claims NO you cannot use regular it will ping like hell up a hill and steve would look hella funny with his pinging bonneville struggling up a steep hill sounding like its gonna blow. going rattle tattle tattle sputter rattle

No, it doesn't NEED premium.
BUT...I've noticed a bit better throttle response and 1-2 mpg per gallon difference.
Your car...40 cents a gallon difference, 16 gallon or so tank, is roughly $6.40 per tank if you run it dry (not counting the possible mileage difference)
I think it's worth it.

The SE and SLE use regular fuel. The SSEi (turbocharged) requires premium.

It is not a high performance car, so regular fuel should be fine.
