A trend is a pattern. It can be a pattern of behaviour, or of dress or anything else. The word can apply to a single person or to a group. For example, you can look at how you have behaved on certain occassions, with certain people. If you fight with your sister every Christmas, that is a trend. Or if you get a headache most times you are out in the sun, that is a trend. If you like to wear mostly dark clothes, that is also a trend. If you like spicy food that is a trend. Anything that repeats consistently, frequently and predictably, constitutes a trend.

A trend means when someone does something then everyone follows. It is worth it if "you" like the trend and decide to follow.

It really depends on your body type and lifestyle. All trends are not created equal, and will not look good on everyone. For example, a girl with hips (like myself) does not look so great in the "skinny jeans" trend. But it's easy to incorporate trends if you have a good base in your wardrobe. I like to add accessories. They're generally less expensive, and when the trend fades, they are smaller to store until the trend inevitable comes back. Good luck to you!

Leggings are so big right now :
In 2005, leggings began to make a "comeback" into the world of high fashion by pairing capri-length leggings with mini skirts with this resurgence continuing into 2006. They are also now popular to wear with oversized, long sweaters. Also, tight leggings began to merge its style with denim, spawning the high fashion design called the "skinny jeans".

trend vs. fad
For example, a short trench coat in white or red would be a trend...a fashion followed for a season or two
a fad would be a sparkly silver trench coat, that is in style for like, five minutes...
That is how I would describe it...
