I suggest getting them done correctly by a professional piercer. It does not cost much and will be done correctly. Stores like Claire's use a gun which is often reused. This puts you at risk of may diseases. A plastic gun must be disposable to be sanitary. Also guns ram a solid piece of metal through your ear making a curved hole. A piercer uses a hollow needle that will make a straight piercing that will heal faster and hurt less.

I got mine pierced at Claire's the first time and there were no problems other than I found out that I am allergic to their studs. No big deal, I just switched them out for small gold studs. I soaked them regularly with alcohol and was fine. However, when I went to get double pierced, my ears immediately got infected. I was soaking them all the time and it wasn't helping. I have read that the higher up you go on your ear, the higher the risk for infection. I finally let the second holes close up.
I hope this helps you make your decision.

I had my daughter's ears done at Claire's and they did a great job.
Their prices are very reasonable and they give you an earcare kit for free. (I love free!!!!!!!!!!!)
Tip: Make sure to schedule a time when 2 people are available with 2 guns to do your ears. That way you only have the ouch once.
Good luck!

I guess Claire's would be okay but don't go to Icing, they messed up my ears and I had to get them repeirced like three years later. The second time I got my ears pierced I went to Piercing Pagoda which is like a professional place. You could try that.
good luck!!!

i've gotten mine done at claires, and they're fine, but i've also seen people get them done there and they've gotten them royally screwed up. i would go somewhere that's more specialized in piercings, considering anyone can do it at claires. it may cost more, but it will be well worth it.
