not my inventions but its not ez when it cost so much just to patent. so the rich get richer cause they can wait to steal an idea and call it their own and hire lawyers to say the same, so why doesn't the patent office have a web page that prints out hard copy of ideas you send in so you can say you came up with it first and have proof printed on pages locked in the patent office so they cant say that any idea that you have sent in email was not fabricated by you hacking into a computer and changing the date you came up with the idea? oh yeah this is my idea too so maybe the government should give me a whistle blower reward for coming up with this idea! [do you think?]

More things are being invented all the time. But "meant to be invented" in the question makes it sound like some greater power is in control of what gets invented.

What if we invent too many things?

Antibiotics are a great thing to have discovered and invented ways of using them to cure diseases so we like that one. With bad things like nuclear bombs and Pokemon I can imagine the old man with the long white beard saying, "I didn't mean for you to invent those".

There was a book a few years back called "The End of History," and there are variations on that theme every few years. Of course, as soon as a book or article like that comes out, there are new developments. Of course everything hasn't been invented -- there are still diseases to cure, poor to feed, and hatred to erase. A new chemical, or gadget, or way of communicating may solve these or other problems. As long as there is trouble in the world, people will be thinking of ways to solve it, and there will be more inventions.

Nope - we're still working on fusion power for instance, haven't got it working yet, but the next big step has already been approved for construction in France as I recall.

Then there are all the items that we'll need to invent for colonizing the moon and Mars...

And there's the ultimate multitool cell phone/video and music player/game player/wearable computer.

So I think there's still lots that ought to be invented.
