Being called a liberal often myself...I consider it insulting...when looking at US politics I would say that my view is far from being a democrat...in fact democrats look pretty much like republicans to me...to me you have the right and the religious right...anyone else feel the same? Instead of calling me a liberal, why not just call me a heathen...now that I like the sound of lol

Then I suppose that I'm a heathen too. Not too many politians here in Texas that think the same as I do for sure. But hey, after Bush, I'd take one that would at least have decent grammar and intellect.

Its not just Liberals actually. The majority of political ideals are falling to the back burner as moderates take over our government. The problem lies in the two-party system. I am a libertarian, and while it is a relatively large minor political party, I may never in my lifetime be able to vote a member of MY party into a political office. There are too many politicians, most actually, who will slide further and further to the middle in order to gain votes. Although I do not particularly care for him or agree with his views, Bush has refrained from sliding like many of his political rivals. I only wish there were politicians on my side of the spectrum that would do the same thing. In some cases having a moderate may be beneficial to the country as a whole, but for those of us with strong beliefs and political views it is smothering and discouraging.

yeah- the religious right has done an excellent job at taking over the government. Religious leaders have gone fully political, breeding hatred for gays, stumping on abortion an collecting the great unwashed masses of voters behind them.

And- they've even effectively made 'Liberal' sound like an insult. How is that even possible!?

Don't we live in the "Sweet land of liberty"?.

If you think democrats look like republicans than yes you would have liberal tendencies in my opinion. I see different categories. Far left, liberal, democrats, republicans, conservatives, and far right.

I'd argue that it is Republicans that have begun mimicking the modern liberals. Both parties have been infected by progressivism. Democrats have managed to spiral even farther down the insane abyss of nihilism, and many Republicans have followed them for fear of losing the popular vote.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A LIBERAL IS. THE NEOCONS THROW IT AROUND A LOT. THEY DON'T EVEN REALIZE THAT MY VOTERS REGISTRATION CARD SAYS "DEMOCRAT".
