Yes, the man who said Jim Brown (Syracuse) is absolutely correct. He was robbed. There had never been a black Heisman winner at this time and the voters were afraid to vote for a black player. Paul Hornung a QB from Notre Dame won it in a season that the Irish went like 3-7-1. Hornung went on to be a Hall of Famer at RB/K for the packers. He was just in the news this week as Tomlinson broke his 41 yr old record for scoring just this last week. Hornung scored only 15 touchdowns that year but he was also the packers field goal kicker so he amassed 176pts for the year.
Almost as big of a disgrace was that Jim Brown didn't even finish in second.....2nd went to Tennessee's johnny majors.
johnny majors accomplishments were that he was the head coach of the Pitt Panthers in 1976 the year that his rb Tony Dorsett won the Heisman and they won the national championship. Shortly after that, Majors left Pitt to become the head coach at his alma mater Tennessee.
Finally, a couple years later, a RB also from Syracuse Ernie Davis won the Heisman. Ernie Davis' professional career and life was cut short as he died at a very young age.
Jim Brown and Ernie Davis both wore the historic number 44 for Syracuse. Others to wear this number for the Orange were Floyd Little, Larry Csonka and Joe Morris to name a few. Recently, no Syracuse player wears the number 44, it has been retired. good luck
ps. for the guy who said eli manning did not get it because he played for a mid- major conference is in error. Eli Manning played for the Mississippi Rebels of the SEC .....The SEC is NOT a Mid Major, in fact, you cannot get more MAJOR than the SEC

I have answered a question of this type before. It would be Jim Thorpe, who was playing before the award existed. If you want a relatively current player, how about Bubba Smith who was, unfortunately for him, a defensive player.

No no longer triumphing the Heisman does no longer make him any a lot less of a participant in any respect Vince youthful didnt win the Heisman yet that didnt supply up him from triumphing the nationwide identify.2d of all i say Tebow is more beneficial of the perfect participant perchance in Florida history no longer college football history.Tebow is a very determined and pushed youthful guy.he's a winner exceptionally else if it develop right into a cruical aspect contained in the sport i'd like to have him on my football crew yet, I dont imagine he's the perfect ever.I propose college football doesnt end tommorow so there is an threat someone more beneficial than tebow will come alongside contained in the subsequent few years.Having a all admired individual D and taking area in on a crew that has multiple quantities of expertise is going alongside with that besides.he's a large participant no longer the perfect qb ever no longer the properly acceptable ever yet between the perfect to play contained in the surprising few years

in my opinion rex grossman got the shaft in 01, he may not have played on a national championship that year( they were close with just two very close loses to auburn and tenn.), but he was clearly the top player in the country that year(it was ind of a weak year as far as talent goes), but grossman put up some hellacious number, but they gave it to eric crouch who in my opinion just wasnt the better player that year. grossman played his best in big games.

i think brady quinn. he broke almost every qb record at nd. nd is a place with a lot of history behind them, and when you can break over 30 records, thats saying something.
