The Invisible Man, I've always been fascinated how a man could think of such diverse topics, alien invasion (War of the Worlds), animal experimentation (Island of Doctor Moreau), space travel (1st Man on the Moon), time travel (Shape of things to come & Time Machine), though these HG Wells stories can all be extrapolated from the science of the time and mans expectations, The Invisible man however is unlike those stories, and is just amazing, its may favourite, although I do like all the above and others from HG Wells, Mr Polly, Love & Mr Lewisham & Kipps.

There are lots and lots of great H G Wells novels. "The War of the Worlds" or "The Time Machine" are the obvious choices. But I have really eccentric favourite. It's called the "Croquet Player." I read it because I rented a small cottage from a retired professor a couple of years ago and forgot to bring anything to read during my holiday. "The Croquet Player" was one of the few books gathering dust on his almost empty library shelves. I couldn't get over what an excellent novel it was. It is worth the read if you can find a copy. I have always liked "The War in the Air". This is a really good story, and for once Wells's intrusive social comment is reined in somewhat. I've read this many times and always managed to get something fresh from it.

Kipps. I read it with the headmaster at primary school years and years ago, and I can still see the book, smell the book, remember all the characters, everything.
