We've always opened one present christmas eve because of excitement. However, Now that I'm married I spend christmas eve with one family and christmas day with another so I get my fix without having to look like a 5 year old.

I let my kids open 1 small present just before they go to bed on Christmas Eve to make it easier for them to go to sleep - the excitement/pressure just builds and you have to release the valve a bit!!

I usually resist the urge to open the presents but sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and look at them

Sometimes we do. My mother always begs us to open one so we do. Then she wants another one! Selfish woman, LOL. My husband makes her wait and it kills her.
