when are we (united states) going to quit sucking up to be POLITICALLY CORRECT? The other countries don't change their COLORS to not offend us. Hell, they can't wait to be like us RIGHT? Our SUPERMAN should be RED/WHITE&BLUE. Might hurt sales in wherever,RIGHT? The makers of that movie have no GONADS. They even left the phrase "the american way" out. HOLLYWOOD USED TO PROUD OF WHO WE ARE,RIGHT?

I do not know why they changed the colors, but I too was offended. Superman is as American as apple pie and baseball. You cant mess with an American institution like that.

Well, first off, Superman is NOT "Red, White and Blue", his costume is Red, YELLOW and Blue. Red isnt offensive to other countries, but red is a scary color for young children, apparently the color of fresh blood is frigthening, but dried blood (maroon) isnt, go figure.

The look of the movie is very saturated, from lighting to clothing, so that when you finally see Superman, he stands out. Maybe red was just too garish for the movie's look. What I'D like to know, though, is why the hell they left the "S" off of the cape?!?!?! WTF Singer?! You know better than that! And you're right about "the American way" thing.

i saw the maroon more as a symbol for age. Remember superman has been gone for years and the world went on uninterrupted. i think it was more like a washed out type of look to represent aging.

I totally agree with you.

That's one of MANY reasons why I CAN'T STAND those horrible X-Men movies.

Instead of having the colorful costumes they all wear dark trench coat like or tight-azz leather uniforms?

They should have followed the fine examples of the Incredibles and made the movie CGI instead of live action.
