Hiya, I want to get my nose pierced but am concerned as to how the nose piercing will affect my job prospects (im currently a 2nd year uni student).

I want to know whether any professionals be you lawyers, teachers, doctor's have nose piercings or is this generally not done.? If you or a professional you know has got one, has it affected your job, do you regret doing it??

In case it matters, I am not of asian descent. I just really really admire nose piercings.

I have a nose piercing and work for a council. Its not a problem but its very small. My other piercings would not be so popular so i take them out. Some jobs I can see that they are just not suitable. They are so much more common now that in alot of places its not a problem.

If anyone asked me to take it out i would although it is against the law to do so. If you get it done soon then it would be well healed by the time you went for jobs so you may be able to take it out if you need for short periods

Hope that helps :-)

It depends, as most answers do, on many aspects of your job, is individuality considered a high priority in your field. If the answer is yes then any form adornment on the body can be seen as an advantage. If not then, well the opposite. But I have to say that nasal piercings heal amazingly quickly, I had my nose pierced on 3 separate occasions and unless you stare about 2 inches from my face you can't see anything (honestly, it's until I point it out to someone that they notice).
I lose my first nasal piercing on taking it out when I had a cold for half an hour. the others were an nasal x-ray (unconnected to the piercing) and me trying to coyly brush my hair out my face and catching my watch.
Of all the things that you can do to yourself, this is the least painful and and the least permanent. So don't think you have mucked up your career because of this. Try it you can always change your mind.

By the by the tiny, unnoticeable scar is on the side I got pierced twice the other side its fine.

Most places-- bad idea!

I know around here teachers have to take them out.

I have never met a lawyer who would want to have a nose piercing, not very professional thing to do, woulda kinda look like a HS punk out there.

Doctors also no.

The field I am in and getting into can't have a nose piercing. So make sure you think it before you do it depending on what you want to do when you graduate, might not be a great idea. If you are going to run a business or something else that wouldn't matter then go for it.

It depends on where you are and what field you are in. In teaching, this is probably borderline acceptable; in medicine or law, probably not. In business, probably only in certain fringe areas - e.g. technology, running a rock wall gym, etc. It also depends what region you are in; in California, most people may be OK to have a manager with a nose piercing; in Iowa, not so much.
